The Reader.
D loves to read. It is his go-to comfort activity. Whenever he's feeling overwhelmed, over stimulated, or just needs some time away he grabs a book, finds a quiet corner and can spend an hour or more with Calvin & Hobbes, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson or any number of other heroes.

My Buddy and Me.
Got Bitty her first Webkinz yesterday. She hasn't put this little cat "Wee" down since she got him off the clearance shelf at the Hallmark store.

do you ever wish you could be invisible. Listen to the conversations of children without them knowing you are there? hide in plain sight?

It was a gorgeous day here in the Seattle area. So we took advantage of it, and our Brandywine Zoo membership (with it's Woodland Park Zoo reciprocal privileges) and spent the morning spying on animals. oh what a glorious day! One quick one from my many attempts at capturing an animal today...until my battery died. bummer.

I was inspired by Kara Leigh to try out some panning techniques. While I definitely have some room for improvement I'm pleased with the start. I'll keep working at it. It's a fun idea and I think an awesome way to capture children. Thanks for inspiring!

The Super Moon:
On March 19th, a full Moon of rare size and beauty [rose] in the east at sunset. It [was] a super "perigee moon"--the biggest in almost 20 years. -science.nasa.gov

They're growing! Our cute fluffy chicks are entering that 'awkward' teenager stage. They are mid transformation from fluff-balls to feathered beauties, and well, they are a bit ugly. Despite their appearance I still introduced them to the public today and took them outside for the first time today. Their instincts kicked in quickly as Squinky caught a worm within five minutes of being in the grass. Go Squink!

I thought it might be fun to take a picture of D from the OTHER end of the bat. So for this weeks assignment I'm hoping this fulfills the requirements!

it's a rainy day here in NW Washington. I know, hold onto your hats, the shock of it all. As the older children enjoy a viewing of Desperaux, Bitty naps peacefully, I get to enjoy a little bit of time with my coffee and (in theory) a good book. But really, I'm just going to play on the computer and avoid cleaning off the coffee table.

Project 365 ~ 070
This is the kind of day I had. It wasn't bad, quite a normal day really. Time just got away from me and by 10:00 I realized I had not taken a photo of the day and was not feeling inspired to do anything about it. I took these two pictures with my phone to send as text messages. I'm posting them, just as a reminder that some days, are just these kind of days.
above: youth football shoulder pads. These were on clearance at Fred Meyer and I thought of my good friend's son who is a die hard football fan and looking forward to joining little league in the fall. I thought he might need these, but it turns out he'll be starting, safely, in flag football. right: chicken curry simmering away getting creamy and delicious.

Replaced! Hooray. I picked up my new barbell today. I know to many people it is strange to see someone with their tongue pierced, but I enjoy having it. I have had it pierced for nearly 12 years now, with one short lapse in time when I took it out for a few months. In that time there wasn't a day that I didn't stop suddenly and think, "Oh no I just swallowed my tongue ring! oh no, I forgot I took it out." So after about six months of torture I just went in and had it redone. I was pleased to buy this bar from a new tattoo and piercing place in town here rather than hitting up hot topic or even claire's at the mall. I know it is a small thing but I do like to support the locals when I can. Plus, I'd just saved about twice the amount that it was with my couponing at Target so I was pleased as punch this afternoon! Pictured here is the old bar and ball (that I did not swallow) and the new bar and the two balls that came with it. I cleaned them all in Listerine for about an hour. Minty Fresh.

Project 365 ~ 068
Today I volunteered at the kids' school for the Traveling Farm exhibit. It was cute to see the children ooh and aah over the chickens and goats and laugh at the sheep with all the hay stuck to its wooly face...not that I'd laugh at the sheep or anything, of course.
This little mini dairy goat, Ellen, was quite interested in the camera, but had a hard time holding still.
There also was some excitement with the duck. She was busy quack quack quacking all morning, nearly non-stop. Then suddenly out popped an egg! I actually saw her lay the egg. Quite a feat for a tiny little duck to lay an egg. I felt such pride for her. I snapped a quick picture of said egg with my phone, but I just couldn't bring myself to post another phone capture this week. So Ellen it is.

We got chickens!
Alright they are chicks right now and months away from providing us delicious fresh eggs. But aren't they cute!? I could just kiss them. But I won't. Because birds are dirty and gross and have germs. ew. Now to name them all...

I know, again with the terrible picture quality, but how could I NOT use this as my photo of the day!?
Bitty found this mascot style bull head at Husband's work and insisted on putting in on her own head exclaiming, "hat hat hat!"

Project 365 ~ 062
I'm not crazy. I'm not. I swear. But I DID have ten kids at my house this morning. Yes, TEN, and yes I was the only grown up. But in all honesty they are some of the greatest kids in the world, AND Phinneas and Ferb was on, as you can see by the glazed over look in all their eyes.
I'm not crazy about the capture. It really looks like just a snapshot to me. If anyone has any tips on how I could have gotten this image to come out looking more photographic than snapshot I'd love to hear your input. I know there is a lot of "stuff" in the background (I kind of thought about using it for my L2L about the 'big mess') so I took out the saturation and darkened it a bit, in hopes that it would bring out the children. I had a vision of them all running to the school through this ditch (always empty) that leads to the campus, and while it possibly would have happened if I just happened to bring my camera, I KNOW orchestrating 10 kids into the image in my minds eye was NOT going likely. I stuck with this solely on the basis of the blog being for the captured memories of each day this year, and let me tell you, this is a memory!

I found this peanut at the thrift store a few days ago. I'm not sure why, but I just felt completely compelled to buy it, thankfully it had a peanut sized price tag so it wasn't a shock to the budget. I don't know what I'm going to do with it. But it is quirky and fun and I love it.
I also watched a tutorial on adding textures to pictures, it is an interesting and fun little process!
